Public health is "fulfilling society's interest in assuring conditions in which people can be healthy." We do this through providing essential public health services which include preventing the spread of disease, protecting against environmental hazards, preventing injuries, promoting and encouraging healthy behaviors, responding to disasters, and assuring the quality and accessibility of health services.
